MariA Caballero (Dancer)

Maria “MariA” Caballero began dancing Ballet and Classical Spanish Dance as a child in Madrid, Spain. At 17, she started her Flamenco training at the renowned Amor de Dios studios in Madrid. She completed intensive Ballet training at the Ruth Page Academy in Chicago, and at 22, received her Ballet Teacher Diploma from the Institut Marius Petipa in Paris, where she taught at Parisian conservatories and private schools.

MariA has spent the last two decades touring internationally as a dancer and choreographer, performing as a soloist with prestigious Flamenco companies such as Compania Antonio Marquez and Rafael Amargo. She has lived and worked in Spain, France, and Japan.

In 2019, MariA and her Ukrainian husband moved to Ukraine, where she founded Las Ukraínas, an Urban Flamenco dance company, which she led until being forced to flee Kyiv in 2022 due to the Russian invasion. Since relocating to Montreal, MariA has collaborated and performed in Quebec with artists from various genres, including jazz and classical musicians. In early 2025, MariA and her husband moved to Halifax. They are excited to begin this new chapter here in Nova Scotia.
